ABSTRACT
Introduction: The daily progress of science and the evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), constantly changes the world around us and significantly impacts the potential for improving both lifestyle and life expectancy. However, the increase in the population, especially the elderly and disabled within this population, creates a unique and demanding space for Social Policy. The need to promote tailored strategies to address these issues using ICT arises from the well-known advantages they offer. ICT facilitates access to isolated areas with minimal or no healthcare needs, contributes to the equal provision of services, and assists and serves daily life for those who cannot independently care for their needs, ultimately contributing to achieving “health for all.” The purpose of this article is to explore trends and issues arising from such endeavours for the elderly and/or disabled members of society, as well as for focused (local) policy considerations.
